STEP ONE Download plans for the Crow's Nest here. Cut plywood rings and uprights from mainsheet pattern. Cut slots to uprights and rings. Make cut right through rings as indicated on base & upper ring pattern. Drill holes for ropes.
STEP TWO it rings around trunk via main cut to ring. Care must be taken not to tear the ply when twisting around the trunk. Make and screw fix ply plates to repair main cut in rings.
STEP THREE Fit main support ropes and tie off so the base ring is level. Fit uprights to the plywood rings. Then fit ratchet tie downs around base and upper rings to secure.
STEP FOUR Make and fit top brace to support crow's nest in vertical secure position. Fix only to crow's nest, no fixing necessary to tree (see image 4 of the online pattern.) Finally make a rope ladder to enter the crow's nest! |
